- Þingvellir
- All park car parks, P1 to P5, for the day. Toilets are charged separately.
- Geysir
- Parking only. Toilets at the service centre charge a small fee.
- Gullfoss
- Both the upper car park and the lower car park. Toilets on the upper level.
- Kerið crater
- Entry to the crater, including parking.
- Seljalandsfoss
- Midnight to midnight, and the toilets are included.
- Reykjadalur (hot river)
- Trailhead car park above Hveragerði. The camera sign is easy to walk past, so pay when you arrive, not after the hike.
- Jökulsárlón & Diamond Beach
- One payment covers the glacier lagoon car park and the Diamond Beach car parks across Route 1 for the same day.
- Blue Lagoon
- Main visitor car park. Luggage storage inside the entrance building charges a separate fee.
Payment deadlines and repeat entry rules vary. Read the sign rather than assuming one payment covers a return visit. Bring a card, cash is generally not accepted.
Before you leave the car
- Check your plate, zone, paid hours and any time limit.
- Park facing the direction of traffic. Do not block driveways or intersections.
- Use designated parking or pull offs. Never park on moss or drive off road.

- P3: 240 ISK/hour for the first 2 hours, then 70 ISK/hour. Time limits vary.
- P1 and P4 have no zone wide time limit. Local signs still apply.
- If a sign requires a parking disc, set the dashboard clock to your arrival time. Ask your rental company if it is missing.
- Outside the zones, some side streets and hotel parking are free. Confirm with the hotel.

- Check the plate and payment confirmation. App payments use your plate, no dashboard receipt needed.
- Card kiosks are available at some locations, but do not rely on finding one.
- “Gjaldskylda” means payment required, not a place name.

City fines are listed here as 5,000 to 10,000 ISK. Rental admin fees are commonly 3,000 to 5,000 ISK, sometimes more. Check the notice and your rental agreement for the actual charge.
How do I check or pay a ticket?
- Rental car: email your rental company with your contract number and plate. Ask about pending charges before paying separately.
- Reykjavík city fine: use the notice reference at bilastaedasjodur.is. Questions: bilastaedasjodur@reykjavik.is.
- Missed attraction fee: contact the provider on the sign promptly. Late payment windows vary.
How do I appeal?
Use Reykjavík’s parking service or email the address above. Include the date, location, plate and reason. Confirm the deadline on your notice immediately. Elsewhere, contact the issuing municipality.
Do not rely on a windshield ticket. Rental charges may only appear after the trip. Unpaid charges can go to collections.

- Ask your hotel whether you can leave the car during the sailing, and what it costs.
- Keflavík Airport has short stay and long stay lots. Check current rates and online booking.
- Do not guess about street parking near Skarfabakki. Check signs, time limits and permission.

- Try the card kiosk if available. If payment fails, photograph the sign and location, then contact the provider. A photo does not replace payment.
- In darkness, use your phone’s flashlight to check signs. If you cannot confirm parking is allowed, choose another spot.
